April is Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American Cancer Society’s estimates 21,560 new esophageal cancer cases will be diagnosed, and 16,120 deaths will occur in 2023. Men account for over 70% of these cases. Some risk factors associated with esophageal cancer are age, gender, tobacco and alcohol, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barretts esophagus, achalasia, injury to the esophagus, obesity, and diet. Early detection is the best form of prevention. Please speak with your Cancer Care Team if you have any additional questions or concerns. 855-490-8777
